So a little about me (who likes writing these things hey!?)...I sort of fell into fitness and all things health and wellbeing in 2018 after going through a lot of change in my life that had a severe impact on my mental health. I was struggling to cope and somehow found myself signing up to a gym in a town I had not long moved to. I was never really one for enjoying exercise and had previously always felt very self conscious in a gym, but... there I was!
Joining the gym that year was the springboard into where I am now. Not only did it help to improve my physical fitness and mental wellbeing, but it also helped me to settle into a new town and eventually feel at home. On top of that it sparked a passion in helping others with their wellbeing needs.
In 2019 I qualified as a Fitness Instructor and as my experience grew I became more and more interested in helping clients with their injuries and chronic pain. I continued my professional development and qualified as a Mat Pilates Instructor in 2020. There have been further qualifications taken along the way to support more specialist client groups (see below for more detail). I'm forever looking at increasing my knowledge, I often wonder where I find the time!
The clinical interest I had in my clients with more complex needs (such as rotator cuff injuries, back complaints, horse riding accident injuries and even rehabilitation after a heart attack) led me to look at how I could help this population of clients better.
So in the summer of 2021 I qualified from the Oxford School of Sport Massage with a Level 5 Diploma in Soft Tissue Therapy. This now means I can offer a more specialist service to help you with rehabilitation from injury, manage and understand chronic pain, and help you improve your strength and mobility.
I pride myself in doing the right thing by every client I see, and if I don't know or can't help I will be honest with you about that and seek further support from my colleagues in our centre, or refer you to another healthcare professional. With our healthcare services under extreme pressure, I know it's important to people to have a trusted place to turn to. Hopefully you'll find that at Flockly Health and Fitness!
